Dean and Dandy Reiner, of Hatchfinders Fly Shop in Livingston, were the subject of a business feature in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle this week. If you haven’t met this father-daughter team, this is a great introduction.

The article talks about Dean’s obsession with model boats and his shop dog, Yuki, as well as his time served as helicopter pilot in Viet Nam, before settling down and getting into the fly fishing business full time. His daughter Dandy grew up learning how to fish from Dean, and after getting her degree she moved back home to help with family business.
Unlike many fly shops, Hatchfinders ties their own flies, and they even find time to take orders. Dean is the creator of the famous “Pink Pookie.”
